What is a doula?
The word doula comes from the ancient Greek word for "servant". And that is just what a doula is. A labor doula is a servant during labor, a postpartum doula serves after birth, a bereavement doula for a time of loss, and so many other types of doulas! And each different type of doula provides support unique to the client hiring them.
For some clients, that act of service looks like by the book appointments and hip squeezes during labor. For other clients, it mean picking up a sprite on the way to a prenatal and then digging deep into her miscarriage grief. It might mean I do laundry after your home birth, or run to the hospital gift shop to get you some gum when its the only thing you can think about during labor.
How ever you need me, to the best of my ability, I will serve you as your doula.

Why did I become a doula?
I, like so many others, did not fully understand what a doula offers during labor. Throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience, I learned many things about doulas I didn’t know before.
I had an amazing midwife team, made friends with a wonderful doula who taught an incredible childbirth class, and I hired a postpartum doula when I had severe PPA and PPD. All of these incredible ladies made my experience and transition into motherhood so much better than it would have been otherwise. I want to give that feeling to other families, so I went into doula work and found my calling.
What does my birth package include?
You have daily access to me via phone call, text message, or email from the time of hire on for any questions, concerns, or fears that crop up throughout your pregnancy.
You get 3 prenatal visits, during which we will discuss and help build your birth plan, practice techniques and positions that can benefit you during labor, prepare you and your partner, and where you will be given information on local resources you can take advantage of before and after you give birth.
You get continuous hands-on physical, emotional, and informational support during labor and birth, plus vocal advocacy. I will stay by your side from the moment you call me until you are holding your new baby in your arms, barring unforeseen circumstances (e.g. emergency cesareans, fast labor, etc).
I will provide a variety of comfort measures for any situation
You receive 1 postpartum visit to discuss birth story, answer questions, help with lactation, and any other assistance and support you may need to help you be the best and most confident mom to your new baby. Additional postpartum support is available (birth clients receive a $5/hour discount on additional postpartum services).
I attend any birth plan at any location (I do not attend freebirths, your birth must be overseen by a medical professional, either a midwife or an OBGYN)
All birth contracts include one photoshoot of your choice, maternity or newborn, at no additional cost, with a discount on the second if you choose to do both.

From the moment I met Cari (night of my induction), she was by my side up until couple hours after our baby was born. That was a full 36 hours. My husband and I will forever be grateful for Cari and the unconditional support and care she provided me during my labor at Winnie Palmer. Majority of the reason why I enjoyed my birth experience was mainly because of Cari. I panicked a few days before my scheduled induction and wanted an extra support person and I found Cari through Doula Connect FL FB group. She was a god sent! She showed up with snacks, essential oils, music, room spray, she just came prepared for what she was meant to do on earth for expectant mothers and that providing emotional support, comfort and advocacy. She stayed overnight and kept checking in on me every so often. She saw my discomfort and rushed over to support me and assisted my husband on how to help me through the pain. I will never in my entire life forget Cari and the role she played during my birth story. God really sent an Angel to be by my side especially in such short notice. I would definitely recommend Cari to every expectant mother I know and I will utilize her services again if we ever do decide to have another. She is well educated, has a heart of gold, so motherly, so trustworthy and reliable.
